Elizabeth Harris – President – Class of 2022

The President manages the administrative affairs of PILA in an organized and efficient manner. To this end, the President institutes and facilitates internal policies and practices that ensure PILA operates in a professional manner. The President also interfaces with Law School administrators and faculty, oversees all PILA-sponsored events and activities, and supports the PILA grantee selection process. The President also maintains institutional records and runs the Board selection process. The President acts as the general representative of PILA as necessary and appropriate. Caroline Elvig – Vice President – Class of 2022

The Vice President oversees all matters related to accounting for PILA finances in a responsible, efficient, and accurate manner. The Vice President keeps the Board informed of all funds and resources available to PILA and prepares appropriate financial reports whenever necessary. In addition, the Vice President maintains all financial records, files, receipts, and correspondence relating to PILA expenditures. Morgan Malony – Grants Director – Class of 2022

The Grant Director coordinates and oversees the PILA+ Grant selection and disbursement processes. The Grant Director, with the Public Service Center and Law School Foundation, obtains information necessary to propose an appropriate value for fellowships and disbursement policies, and represents PILA during the grant award process. The Grant Director also maintains accurate records of the number and status of grant recipients, and keeps the Board apprised and enforcing the grant repayment policy as needed. Maggie Woodward – Outreach Director – Class of 2022

The Outreach Director is responsible for publicizing all PILA events, including the Auction and Conference. They manage all social media accounts for PILA and big updates regarding the PILA website. Email Maggie at: mcw5bb@virginia.edu

Warren Griffiths – Conference Director – Class of 2023

The Conference Director organizes and executes the annual Shaping Justice Conference, in collaboration with the Law and Public Service Program and/or the Public Service Center and other student organizations. Together with the other organizers, the Conference Director organizes the panels and recruit panelists, tracks registration, selects alumni award recipients, selects a keynote speaker, organizes workshops, and oversees a logistics plan for the events. The Fundraising Directors are responsible for coordinating PILA’s traditional fundraising functions, such as the Book Sale, Graduation Housing Program, and the Law School Foundation’s Phonathon. Auction Team

The Auction Directors coordinate, promote, and manage all aspects of the annual Live and Silent Benefit Auction fundraisers. In addition, the Auction Directors continually research and implement improvements to the Auction and its planning process. The Auction Team is composed of the following positions:

Harper Vincent – Auction Director – Class of 2022

The Auction Director is responsible for administrative oversight and control of the Auction team. The Auction Director schedules the Auction Team meetings and ensures that Auction team members are cooperating and functioning properly. The Auction Director serves as the main point of contact between the Auction and Membership Teams, as well as the main contact for the rest of the Virginia Law community. Membership Team

The Membership Team proposes and organizes events and opportunities that strive to build a supportive and inclusive public interest law community at the Law School. The Membership Team also organizes forums for students to meet each other and discuss issues involving public interest law. The Membership Team leads and oversees the 1L Representatives Committee, the public service mentoring program, and the organization and implementation of the Alternative Spring Break program. The Membership Team’s programming may also include revenue-raising events.

The Membership Directors facilitate PILA’s mentorship program to ensure 1Ls are connected with other public service students for school, career, and life advice. The Membership Directors organize events to help serve PILA’s community-building function. They are responsible for planning the Public Service Kickoff and other events for the broader public service community. The Membership Directors also manage the 1L Representatives program. The Membership Directors facilitate PILA’s mentorship program to ensure 1Ls are connected with other public service students for school, career, and life advice. The Alternative Break Directors are responsible for coordinating PILA’s Alternative Break partnerships and organizing student participation in pro bono projects over spring break. The duties are separated into two collaborative roles: the Alternative Break Programming Director and the Alternative Break Finance Director. Bryanna Lindberg – Student Engagement Director – Class of 2023

The Student Engagement Director, working jointly with the Career Development Director, is responsible for creating and coordinating community-building events for all law students interested in public service. The Student Engagement Director also acts as a liaison, with the Career Development Director, to other student organizations and the Public Service Center to promote and cosponsor events that encourage public service and community. Catarina Conran – Career Development Director – Class of 2023

The Career Development Director, working jointly with the Student Engagement Director, is responsible for creating and coordinating career-oriented programs for all law students interested in public service. The Career Development Director also acts as a liaison, with the Student Engagement Director, to other student organizations and the Public Service Center to promote and cosponsor events that encourage career development, financial responsibility, and community.
